I wanted something I could combine with or replace part of my normal commute about 2 miles each way. That means going up and down several flights of stairs and getting on the subway. I was also looking for something sturdy enough to handle a little rain or snow and the common bumps in the road around here.
My first impression of opening it is that it is really solidly built. My second impression was that it is also very heavy. At 39 pounds, it is twice as heavy as bicycles, so even though it is more compact than a bike, it's hard for me to see mixing this with transit easily. It's light enough that it is possible to carry it, but it's heavy enough and bulky enough that you won't want to for very long. There's no way you could wheel it onto an escalator, either. I was hoping you could lift it up onto one wheel to negate some of the weight, but the lock for the handlebars doesn't seem designed for that, and there isn't a good grip that balances the weight side to side.
